Papers, 1881-1940.

The collection contains diaries, 1903-1940, of James Stevens recording daily activities of Stevens and his wife Bertha as well as scrapbooks, ca. 1905-1932, compiled by Stevens and reflecting his interests and accomplishments. Also includes Stevens' diplomas and honorary degrees, 1881-1924, from Genesee Wesleyan Seminary, the University of Rochester, Syracuse University, and the University of Maine as well as membership certificates in the Dickens Fellowship, Phi Kappa Phi and Tau Beta Pi. Bertha Stevens' diplomas, 1890, from Cook Academy, Havana, New York, and her membership certificate in the Dickens Fellowship are also found in the collection.

James Stacy Stevens, the son of Henry Francis Stevens and Emeline Heydock Stevens, was born in Lima, New York, on August 21, 1864.
